Example Salarymanhood Senryu (from the book):
Example 1:
customer meeting,
their top guy starts argument,
then naps through it
Example 2:
Japanese tech firm,
VP still wants every quote,
sent by fax machine
- All senryu poems are reviewed by the 20th day of each month.
- The winning senryu is announced by the 28th day of each month. The winner gets a free copy of the upcoming illustrated senyru joke book, Salarymanhood.
Basic rules:
- Must be original.
- Three lines only.
- 5/7/5 syllable structure, but can make exceptions if it’s worth it.
- Themes: office life, work culture, Japan, work absurdity, the culture gap, white-collar lifestyle
- One winner chosen by Michael Thuresson.
